In anticipation of the April 20th public lecture by narrative nonfiction author Terry Tempest Williams, Mercyhurst University's Office of Sustainability is introducing a mobile book club for her most well-known book, Refuge: An Unnatural History of Family and Place.
Refuge explores the grief of Terry's mother’s battle with cancer through the lens of the rising of the Great Salt Lake, which threatens a delicate ecosystem of birds. Combining personal struggle with ecological sensitivity, Terry’s background as an ecologist, poet, and Mormon offer a uniquely beautiful story that encompasses natural inevitabilities within our landscapes and our families.
